Good Reasons to Join NFDA

The most effective way you can address the changes taking place in the flood determination industry is through NFDA. When you become a NFDA member, you join with other professionals in your field as one strong national voice to help positively change the future of the industry. With NFDA, you can:
- Support advocacy efforts on legislative issues that affect our businesses. NFDA maintains a federal liaison office in Washington, D.C. and is recognized as the voice of the flood determination industry by FEMA, Federal Regulatory Agencies, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, as well as the lending and insurance industries. NFDA influences legislation and regulation in a manner that benefits the flood zone determination industry, as well as strengthens the National Flood Insurance Program.
- Exchange ideas and network with others in your industry through forums, meetings, conference calls, special bulletins and the bi-annual newsletter. NFDA is a non-profit organization whose membership includes leading flood zone determination companies both large and small.
- Develop industry ethics and standards through the NFDA Certification Program.
NFDA Committees/Task Forces
NFDA encourages industry involvement through its various committees and task forces. We currently have volunteers guiding the following initiatives:
Membership Recruitment: You can help mobilize NFDA by inviting other professionals to be a part of the action. Reach out and help shape the future of industry through NFDA.
Certification Program: Take part in the advancement of professional standards in our industry as a member of the NFDA Certification Committee. Members encourage participation and oversee the implementation of our industry’s premier certification program.
Association Event Planning: Participate in planning and arranging NFDA annual meetings and workshops to ensure that issues relevant to our industry are addressed.
Technical Mapping Committee: Work directly with FEMA and the National Service Provider to address map-related issues and participate in developing solutions.
Legislative Tracking Committee: Coordinate with a team of NFDA Member representatives to track active legislative issues, keep the Membership informed and work with the Board and Washington Liaison to craft NFDA position statements and comments to legislation that stands to impact the flood determination industry.
Newletter Committee: The NFDA is looking for talented writers, editors and coordinators to develop our bi-annual newsletter. The newsletter is NFDA's broadest outreach vehicle for communicating issues, challenges and accomplishments of the flood determination industry and is a great way to get involved with only a small investment of your time.
Board Elections Committee: Help the NFDA find and mentor tomorrow's leadership! The Elections Committee identifies qualified candidates from Member Companies to serve the Association on the Board of Directors for each term year.
